About Us

Our story

This is where it all began...

Interruption Public House & Brewing wasn’t built in a single moment. It took shape piece by piece—through creativity, family, early brewing experiments, community connections, and friendships that eventually grew into a shared vision.

Interruption Public House & Brewing grew from four different journeys that naturally came together over time. Donnie and Jen began brewing together in 2017, starting with a Christmas homebrew kit and quickly turning weekend projects—and even brewing in the snow—into a shared passion. Their early beers made their way into the O’Fallon taproom through the Good News Brewing Homebrew Competition, where Donnie won with his Saison and brewed it on the GNB system in 2020.

Shortly after that release, Jen brought several of Donnie’s beers for the GNB team to try. When Matt tasted Smashing Grapefruit, he immediately saw potential and encouraged Donnie to brew it on the O’Fallon system under the Interruption name. That moment marked the beginning of Donnie and Matt collaborating through beer.

Matt’s own brewing path began years earlier and eventually led him to co-found Good News Brewing, helping grow it into a well-loved regional brewery. After stepping away at the end of 2025 to let GNB continue expanding under Dan’s leadership, Matt felt drawn back to his original dream: a single, community-centered public house in the town where he raised his family. Laura has been by his side throughout his brewing journey, supporting his creativity and sharing in the excitement of developing new ideas.

As the four of us—Matt, Laura, Donnie, and Jen—became close friends, our individual paths naturally blended into one shared vision. We wanted a place rooted in hospitality, creativity, and genuine community connection. A place that honors Old Town O’Fallon’s history and gives people a familiar spot to gather.

That vision became Interruption Public House & Brewing—a welcoming neighborhood space created from four stories that converged into one purpose: to offer people a warm place to pause, connect, and enjoy good food, good drinks, and good company.

Mission Statement

At Interruption Public House & Brewing, our mission is to create a warm, welcoming gathering place where people can interrupt the rush of everyday life and enjoy meaningful moments together. We believe great beer and great food matter—but the people you share them with matter even more.

We strive to:

  • Serve our community first — honoring the roots of the O’Fallon space we’re stepping into and supporting the people who make this town feel like home.

  • Create connection across generations — offering a familiar, comfortable “Cheers”-like environment where customers and staff feel more like friends than strangers.

  • Craft with creativity and care — brewing small-batch beers inspired by curiosity, passion, innovation, and a love for the process.

  • Design memorable experiences — through warm hospitality, thoughtful service, inviting spaces, and offerings that people look forward to returning to.

  • Honor our beginnings — blending our four individual stories into one shared vision built on kindness, creativity, authenticity, and genuine neighborhood spirit.

Our purpose is simple:

To be a place that feels comforting, memorable, and genuinely welcoming—a place that interrupts everyday life in the best possible way.
